Great shish kebabs, the combo plate has 3 skewers actually, very generous and delicious! The marinated chicken Tawuk skewers melts in your mouth! Good halal store! Forgot to mention, Bu they're open Sunday's!

I don't even know where to begin. I've been here numerous times and the customer service is always horrible. They don't bring water out for you (unless you ask?). We went there yesterday and ordered a coke as a beverage, waiter brought out a can of Coca Cola (1.99 charge) as I looked over to another table where a couple of Caucasians were seated I see a glass full of pop. So I asked our waiter if they have refills and he said "yes we do but because you ordered the can soda you don't get refill" why in the world would I pay 1.99 for a canned soda when I can get a glass of of pop? with refill? Rip offs!!!! Don't go here! If you want quality food plus quality customer service go elsewhere! P.S Who goes to a restaurant and says can I get a "can of soda"? Bye.

Casual, delicious and quick! I got the #7 with lamb and a beed kabob and was very happy. Hummus and baba Ganoush are a must try!

Chicken shawarma sandwich was good. Hummus was horrible. I don't know how you mess up hummus but this place succeeded. Not much of a restaurant. It's a Middle Eastern grocery store with a few plastic chairs in the back. I wanted a side of pita bread with the hummus and you would have thought I asked them to raise the dead. Awkward. A few of the workers here need to take a few ESL classes.

I come here often with work friends over years since some of them have Halal restictions and I love middle eastern and especially kebob, shwarma, doner .... A little shabby on the inside and definately a bit of a dive being in the back of a market, but the food is really the gem. The food is fantastic and has improved remarkably over a few years. The prices have gone up somewhat. The portions, while sizable, are a little smaller than they used to be. You won't go home hungry or disappointed by the taste, that's for sure. Service is acceptable and never had a bad experience with the service, it's just not anything special. Just not personable, but efficient. Not much ambiance --- but the food, especially the kebobs, is what this place is all about.

We stopped here on the way to Yellowstone from Los Angeles. The first thing that happened is the waiter insulted my father. I played of because we wanted to eat n hit the road. On our way out, we ordered some meet to take with us to BBQ. The meat was suppose to have no bones. We paid 50 bucks for the meat to discover that the butcher filled up the bag with bones to make it weigh more that what it was. It is too bad we paid him cash or I would have contested the charge with my credit card company. This place is a cheat and dishonest n on top of it all rude to their guest. Stay away.

The market has just about everything you could need in order to make any Middle Eastern dish. I come here when my boyfriend and I want to to cook anything from kabsa to kanafa to falafel. The staff is helpful too. The restaurant is pretty good, but the last three times that my boyfriend ordered lamb, he felt sich afterwards. I usually get the chicken and lamb kebabs, and they are great. They do well on the rice, and the hummus is really good too!

have you seen the movie falling down, the burger scene? I swear to God that same burger here costs $5. my wife's plate of chicken kabob had about 6 small pieces, one of which was burned to a crisp, no exaggeration. the salad looked like it was a donation and the plate looked like leftovers from the dollar tree while mine had a small paper plate for the fries and a small to go box for the sandwich. it cost $7 with fries and drink. only reason 2 stars is because of the nice waitress and the food didn't taste bad.

So apparently the little restaurant inside the market has a new owner. We were disappointed not to see any stews on the menu, mostly kabobs. The rice is good so are the kabobs but i loved the stews.

I had come in here to buy specialty meat that I needed to cook a meal for my friends over the weekend. It was goat meat that I needed and I can say that this is the best place to buy goat meat. I was literally offered up the ENTIRE goat in front of me and whatever parts I liked. I was making goat curry so just about any would have worked and it came out to be pretty cheap as well at $5/lb. Usually runs around $7 in the bay area or a bigger metro area. The entire store is very family oriented and family owned/run. I even got talking to the owner at the cash register who I could tell was well off but was willing to get some input from one of his customer, a sign of a well run business. In the meantime when I was waiting from my goat meat, I wanted to try out their restaurant at lunch time. It was the same feeling as the store as it just a walkway down into the restaurant side from the store side. I asked for restaurant favorites and the girl suggested to me the #21: Chicken Sultani. I took her up on the offer and ordered it. To kill time, they gave me bread with hummus and yogurt which in itself was yummy and filling. Then, the Chicken Sultani had arrived. I saw only chicken pieces and some sort of skewered meat with original white rice. I thought I would need sauce with the rice since I don't like eating rice by itself but boy was I wrong. As I mixed the salad with lemon and roasted tomatoes alongside with the chicken pieces and rice, it was a medley of flavor that just brought you back to the Mediterranean. It had zest, it had flavor, it had taste, and it cooled you down at the same time. I can say it was a really good meal and I would definitely ordered time and time again. I can honestly say this is the best afghan/Mediterranean food in the valley. Overall, I was very satisfied with my food and the customer service provided to me.

portion size is really good, but mix and match is required in their food options. they do not help customize. not a really great Mediterranean taste. the chicken can taste better. given that there are not many options around i would go here and no complains.

You'd never expect this place to be so good from the outside, and even upon walking in (through a grocery store) I was still a bit skeptical. But...the food is delicious! Even my kids who are not big meat eaters loved the chicken! It was super moist and flavorful. I ordered the falafel sandwich and it was one of the best I've ever had. We will for sure come back!

Ok, I admit that I'm a snob when it comes to Middle Eastern food. I grew up eating my mom's amazing Palestinian cooking and I'm from the Detroit area, which houses the best ME restaurants ever. I was hoping this place would be at least decent, but I was wrong. When I walked into Shahrazad and saw a bunch of fellow Arabs eating there, I thought that was a good sign. Nope. The food was horrible. The bread was stale, the taboulleh was tasteless and mushy, the rice was bland, the okra was way overcooked, and the falafel tasted like fried nothingness. Also, our waitress was sweet enough but struggled explaining the menu. When we asked her to ask her to describe the Somali Chicken, she said, "You know, it's Somali Chicken." Oh...thanks. This experience made me miss home.

Beautiful platters filled generously with delicious Persian food. This little gem sits in the back of a market and is perfect for an informal meal. Everything was cooked to order. Too bad we were too early to try the shawarma. It wasn't ready til 2pm but it looked so tantilizing on the spit dripping with juices!. I keep saying this would be a great place to get takeout on the way home from work. I find myself daydreaming of the chicken kubideh. It was that good.

I went there during lunch hours on a weekend. It was pretty quiet but the service was fast. We got the yogurt drink with combo kabab and the food was pretty good. The price for two people came out to $28.

Hidden gem for Mediterranean food in SLC. Made to order baba ghanoush and hummus with homemade pita. We ordered a variety of skewers which were all very good - highly recommend the Shahrazad and vegetarian plate which offers the right amount of variety. The service was excellent and the store was amazingly well stocked with products from Lebanon to India (finally found high quality and well priced orange blossom water in Utah). The portions were generous. The platters were competitively priced given the quality. Definitely worth the trip, we'll be going back!

LOVE this place! Have had both chicken and beef kebab combos. But last time got the Lamb on the waitress' suggestion and it was so good! Always the rice is good, soft and fluffy. I also love the charred tomato they give with the kebabs. The hummus is great.

Come on in! Enjoy a taste of countries you may never visit, served by delightful employees. Kebobs, meats, grilled vegetables, salads, jasmine rice & yummy drinks to wash it all down. There are so many dishes and combinations it will blow your mind. I recommend that first timers order combination dishes to maximize exposure to different tastes. I also recommend the salty yogurt drink whose name I forget to wash down your meal.

My brother recommended this place so I thought I'd check it out. I went with a coworker of mine whose a bit health conscious. I must say, the chicken cube and ground chicken was tasty. I also tried the beef and lamb skewers and it was flavorful. The rice was impressive. Being Asian, I am used to jasmine and homai rice. But the rice they served was light and fluffy. Overall good experience for me as I slowly get introduced to middle eastern food.

I regret going there so much! This place used to be good! after a long time I went there two weeks ago, I ordered chicken kebab. the food was horrible! The chicken was not well cooked and the rice did not look good at all! I did not finish eating the plate. They changed the size of the plate from before and made it smaller which I didn't like it! The price for the quality of food was SO MUCH! I ended up paying a lot. The only thing I liked from the place was the free appetizer! Nothing else! I am never gonna go back there and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

Went to Shahrazad as a Middle-Eastern food novice. The restaurant and market staff were very kind and helpful. On the advice of a fellow shopper, I bought some fresh-from -the-oven flatbread and the absolute BEST hummus I have ever eaten! Can't wait to go back!

Good quality Persian food in SLC. Who knew? Good service, good menu selections, well prepared food. I'll be back whenever I come through town again. (Good prices on kitchen staples for a Mediterranean kitchen - pomegranate molasses, rice, tahini and lots more on the market.)

The beef was just gross , it had a strong taste ,you know it's just not fresh at all . Then we saw the uncooked beef through the glass fridge , they are brown , greyish color , you can tell they have been sitting there for "a while " . The bread was good but won't go back again

After not coming here for months, had lunch here today and nice to find out it has changed ownership. Food seemed much better and fresh. Rice was basmati long grain, smelled and tasted good. The kabobs were all tender and not smelly at all. Prices are about $10 but comes with a platter of food. Location is meh, in the back of a grocery store but food is much much better.

This restaurant has changed hands several times. I think the new owners have improved it quite a bit . prices are fair, I usually get al different kinds of kabobs

So disappointed in the food and service. Would never recommend this place, the restaurant must be under new management AGAIN. The chicken kabob had a nasty spoiled taste and the ground (koobideh) kabob sucked as well. It's a shame, the previous owners knew good quality and service.

some of the rice dishes are great. Like the lima bean, rice, cilantro dish is great. The vegetarian sampler platter is great! The falafel sandwich was super dry and need yogurt or tahini. If it had that it would have been great. I also really like the atmosphere .

I used to love this place, but recently they did something to the rice that is just... blah. I don't know. Some new spice or something. It's kind of sweet now, which isn't what I expect with basmati rice. Everything else is still good. If they changed the rice back, I'd be so happy!

This place is amazing! The portions are great, the chicken kebabs are juicy and well seasoned and the mountains of awesome basmati rice with sumac are the perfect combination. I don't really like koobidehs, but my husband who is half Iranian really likes them and he really enjoys the ones Shahrazad serves. The ghormeh sabzi is super tasty as well. Overall a great find with also very reasonable prices, the market in the front is great for finding spices and other middle eastern delicacies. If you are into middle eastern food, do not miss this place.

Decided to try this place based on a review from the SL Tribune. I love Persian food and thought this might be the real deal. We walked in and were treated rudely from the start, another couple who came in long after us had their order taken first. I asked for 1/2 basmati/Green Rice with my kabob, not willing to accommodate. So I ordered a side. It took forever for drinks, the rice was cold, our entrees were disappointing. The rice, in addition to being cold had a rubbery quality that was not anything like I'd experienced before. The menus were greasy, service was lousy. The yogurt sauce and bread were okay. My husband's filet kabob was moderately tasty. The koobideh tasted gamey and like another reviewer, my stomach has been upset. Won't be venturing back.

Bye.
